Electricity

An Energy ReSource

 

 

 

 

  Introduction

April 22nd is Earth Day. You have been studying electricity and know how cool it is. But now it is time for you to think about where it comes from and how careful you should be when using it. It costs $ and most of it comes from fossil fuels.

 

 

 

 

  The Task

You will be investigating how much energy or electricity we use at home.  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

1.       Listen to where fossil fuels are found and how much is left

2.     Listen to a review about electricity

3.     Students select one or more of the energy usage sites and document how much electricity appliances use and how to reduce that amount

4.     Watch Electricity Vampires as a group

5.     Have students discuss how these vampires cost you and how they can be stopped

6.     Explain home assignment – to collect information about their energy usage

7.     Next week will be begin to create a display for Earth Fair

8.     They will need to vote on a theme: they can use one of those we have seen:

a.      Energy Vampires

b.     Energy Hogs

c.      Turn Off the Juice

d.      Another?
