  Introduction

What is there to do this summer? What are the good books?

Below you will make plans for your fun reading and find out where to look for great FREE summer activities!

 

 

 

 

  The Task

You will be searching the Hartford Public Library Reading Program to find out what books they recommend. Next you will explore Hartford Area websites to find activities of interest which are FREE and you can recommend to your family.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Process:

Hartford Pubic Library

1.       Open the HPL link.

2.     Go to Children’s Corner of HPL, click on TumbleBooks

3.     How many audio books are online?

4.     Under TumbleBooks Readables – what are the 4 categories of books?

5.     Under Chapter books – how many are there?

6.     Name one you would like to read________________________

7.     How many text sizes can you choose from?

8.    Go to back to the children’s page – click on Summer Reading Program

9.     Click on the Students entering 5th Grade or 6th Grade

10.  Review the list of recommended books and select one. Why did you choose it? And which HPL library is it in?

11.   Click on EVENTS (on right side)

12.  On the left, under Locations – deselect ALL

13.  Select Mark Twain and Downtown

14.  What programs did they offer that you were interested in?

15.  When is the next FREE day at the Wadsworth Atheneum?

16.  Which activity looks interesting to you?

17.  Other than the next free day exhibits - What OTHER exhibits look interesting to you?

18.  What are the other FREE days?

Greater Hartford Arts Council

19.  The Greater Hartford Arts Council provides a one stop shopping experience for what is happening around Hartford. Some are free events.

20.Click on 7Day Calendar – find one that is free that you think you’d like to go to.
