Introduction

Other planets in our solar system have moons, some have many. Earth has just one moon.

The Task

Let’s find out about our moon. What is it like? Why does it look different at different times of the month? How does it effect us?

1. What are the major features of the moon's surface?
2. How much larger is the earth in diameter than the moon?
3. The earth has a much larger mass than the moon.  How many moons would it take to equal the mass of Earth?
4. The moon's surface has been pelted by asteroids, comets and meteorites which have caused craters.  How have these space particles been allowed to bombard the moon's surface?
5. What is a Blue Moon?
